Yakutsk, May 30. The first day of the International Forum of Creative Industries gathered 6,000 participants from 39 regions of Russia and 9 countries.
At the International Forum of Creative Industries in Yakutsk, an agreement was signed to open 50 cinema halls in India equipped with projectors from Yakutsk-based Extra Cinema. The project was partnered by Janta, an Indian company engaged in movie distribution in small towns.
By the end of the year, 50 movie halls will be opened, with the prospect of expanding to 200 and then to 10,000 halls. And creative technologies make it possible to show films in digital quality at low costs (less than 1 million roubles per auditorium).
Why it matters. India has only 5,000 cinemas for 1.4 billion people. 70% of the population does not have access to collective viewing in movie theaters.
The signing of the agreement is a milestone event between Yakutia's Ekstra Cinema and the Indian film distribution network Janta. The project is supported by the President of Russia and the Far East Development Corporation. The signatures were made by Pyotr Chiryaev, General Director of Extra Cinema, and Yusuf Sheikh, founder of Janta. Janta specializes in organizing film distribution in small communities in India.
It is imperative to comply with the entire legal framework, including film licensing. We have to do all the work as soon as possible and launch the possibility of showing not only Indian films, but also Russian films, - Peter Chiryaev told reporters.
